An IoT system may process data on a device, at a gateway or in the cloud. AI adds another decision layer, but the architecture still needs clear inputs, dependable outputs and a response when confidence is low. Choose processing locations around latency, privacy, reliability and operating cost.

A visual-inspection assistant worksheet

Write down the observation, the proposed inference and the permitted action as separate steps. For a first evaluation, keep the output advisory and define the person who reviews an uncertain case.

  1. Reserve representative examples outside model development. Record the conditions, input quality and expected labels.

  2. Measure missed cases and false alarms as well as average accuracy. Include delay, stale inputs and unavailable services in the observation log.

  3. Record model and configuration versions. Define the stopping condition, human review route and fallback before connecting any physical or business action.

Interpret the result

A capable model can sit inside an unreliable system. Evaluate the sensors, transport, permissions and response process together. The worksheet supplies an evaluation method; it does not establish a model benchmark or authorize unattended consequential decisions.

Keep a decision record

Save the requirement, exact models and versions, assumptions, observations, failures and next decision. Distinguish a documented specification from your own observed result. Leave unknown values unassessed rather than filling them with a score.
