Connected mobility covers more than a vehicle's screen. It includes diagnostics, fleet operations, charging, location services and the infrastructure around a journey. The right system must fit the vehicle, operating environment and people responsible for using the information.

A representative-route worksheet

Choose one observation-only fleet requirement and one representative route. State who needs the information and the decision it supports. Avoid collecting location fields merely because the platform makes them available.

  1. Record vehicle model, device identity, installation provider, service plan and the documented connection to the vehicle.

  2. Compare event time with arrival time in the application. Record coverage gaps, stale locations, duplicates and the treatment of delayed uploads.

  3. Ask the operator to follow one exception through acknowledgement, investigation and closure using the existing workflow.

Interpret the result

A usable map does not establish complete coverage or a maintenance improvement. Compare against the original operating record and account for differences in routes and vehicle use. Treat driver understanding, access and retention as part of the requirement.

Keep a decision record

Save the requirement, exact models and versions, assumptions, observations, failures and next decision. Distinguish a documented specification from your own observed result. Leave unknown values unassessed rather than filling them with a score.
