Grove Beginner Kit: identify the revision, keep the lesson reusable
Research Seeed Studio’s integrated Grove kit for one supervised programming activity, with the exact sensors, software and reset record kept together.
Offering research · By Admin · Checked 20 October 2026. Official kit, component and library references; no physical kit, compiled sketch, restored station or classroom outcome tested.
A preconnected board can simplify the first programming exercise, but a shared lab still needs an identified starting state. Use this route when learners should change a small program and explain the observed input or output. Keep the host computer, exact kit, lesson and maintained files in the same handover.
Start with the kit that is actually on the bench
Identify the hardware revision
Seeed’s kit wiki distinguishes versions around October 2025: DHT11 changes to DHT20, and BMP280 to SPA06-003. Record the actual sensor markings before selecting a lesson and library. A similarly named older wiki is explicitly marked EOL; it is a separate reference.
Preserve the initial physical state
The current kit integrates a Seeeduino Lotus-compatible board and ten input, output and sensing modules on one preconnected PCB. For this starter pilot, retain the assembled form. Any later physical modification needs its own supervised plan and inventory.
Make programming progress explainable
Choose a small, understandable change and a visible observation. Retain the original source, chosen library version, build settings and expected behaviour. A display showing numbers is a starting observation; it does not establish measurement accuracy or a completed learning outcome.
Prepare one activity for the next group
1 · Choose an accessible learning task
Define one input or output and the explanation participants should give. Agree supervision, accessible instructions, alternative participation and a fallback demonstration. Keep the activity low-voltage and limited to the approved supplied setup.
2 · Record kit and host identity
Inventory the kit, physical state, sensor markings, approved accessories, host OS, USB interface and installed tools. Use the exact manufacturer documentation for the supplied hardware. Standalone Lotus board history is not proof of the USB hardware in a particular kit.
3 · Match the lesson and library
Follow the lesson branch for the actual sensor. The official SPA06 library provides initialization and measurement APIs; record the selected version and expected initialization result. Do not assume a newer sensor works with an older sensor’s example or resource archive.
4 · Keep the source and starting state
Save the activity source, dependency versions, board settings and a short reset/restore checklist under the supervisor’s ownership. Keep baseline and changed files distinct. Reopening a sketch is not proof that the same binary or physical station has been reproduced.
5 · Check expected and missing observations
Have the supervisor demonstrate the intended output, source variable, units where relevant, and a controlled initialization or missing-data case. Record actual observations and limitations. Do not label an absent reading as zero, or a calculated value as an independent reference measurement.
6 · Handover and maintain
Restore the approved starting state, check parts and cables, and leave the next group a short operating record. Log tool/library changes, damaged items, failed restores and support effort. Repeat the reference activity after a change before returning the station to shared use.
A library example needs a checked context
The SPA06 repository documents initialization success/failure and pressure/temperature APIs. This is useful for planning error handling, but no example was compiled or run here. Verify exact library, board and component compatibility before using a shared station.
Do not turn a local exercise into an assumed connected service
This article evaluates a local programming activity. If a later project sends observations elsewhere, specify the network hardware, receiving application, timestamps, access and retained data as a separate design. No wireless or cloud service is implied by this kit route.
Treat the resource bundle as a starting point
The kit documentation links lessons, design files, libraries and an initial demo. Confirm which files apply to the supplied revision and preserve the approved versions. An older archive or a general download link does not establish a tested restore for newer hardware.
Agree the complete supply and support scope
Request the exact revision, supplied contents, replacement process, host requirements, educator support and ongoing costs from the responsible seller. No current India stock, local quote or support agreement has been verified. Keep learner identities and private institutional records out of the initial enquiry.
Use the pilot and a written proposal
Shared sensor-lab pilot provides the operating question and evidence record. Prepare a private requirements enquiry for Admin review. An unlisted provider may be named in the non-confidential brief; no provider is contacted automatically.
Sources and independence
The linked manufacturer pages establish model/revision, component, library and company context. Pilot design, acceptance and handover questions are original editorial guidance. No vendor code or images are redistributed. No physical kit, compiled sketch, hardware restore, reference measurement, learner trial or IoTPapa partnership is reported.
